This game has been created for the Brackeys Jam 2020.2 (August 2020).
The theme for the game jam was: REWIND.

This is the first game I've ever finished and published for the public.

I've initially started working on a completely different game.
I was forcing myself to match the "REWIND" theme building something I didn't like and wouldn't even play.

Three days into the jam I realised, REWIND may also mean going back to the childhood.
As a kid, before everyone had a mobile phone and before mobile phones were advanced enough to have anything else than "Snake" on it - we used to play Paper Soccer. You would literally draw 8x10 pitch on a piece of paper and play it at school with friends. It was great fun!

In this case, I've decided to build a MVP of a Paper Soccer project.
The AI for the opponent is not the best out there, but it will definitely punish you for stupid mistakes. There is also element of randomness involved so that not a single game will be the same.

I would really appreciate all the feedback.

I have some ideas for additional modes for the game, as well as online multiplayer, so if you're interested in playing this game in the future (either on mobile or desktop) make sure to follow my page so that you won't miss it out once it's released!

Also, if you've played the game, let me know in the comments down below what was:

  • the biggest combo you've scored
  • the fastest win you've had
  • the longest game when it comes to number of moves you've had
  • the shortest game (number of moves wise) you've had

Enjoy!

Overall a pretty solid game. It wasn't one from my childhood so it took me a moment to really understand how the game worked. My first win (after a few inevitable losses) was 51 moves with a max combo of 5. For an improvement I'd say maybe more of a color different for when you get to either choose again or end your turn. The sound effects fit nicely with the game as well.

Thanks for your feedback, really appreciate it! Will make sure future version uses different color to highlight combo-able nodes, thanks!
